I write to you again because I went to Barcelona last week to see the Peppers play, and as I know American tour hasn't started yet, I thought that you'd want to know a few curiosities about the concert... The place was Palau D'Esports de Montjuic, middle sized so that the stage was clearly seen from every side. The opening bands were Flaming Lips (quite bad) and Moby (some kind of techno-thrash). The night started heating when Moby singer got nude; Dave Navarro (dressed with a smoking-jacket) and Chad Smith came out running and after throwing him to the ground simulated oral sex with him... The Chili's show started with the instrumental Grand Pappy du Plenty and Give it Away (I didn't care too much about it, trying not to fall down in the waving crowd). They then played Aeroplane, and continued the whole concert with the complete new album (the one I liked best: Trascending), only playing some of the best known songs from the others, (Under the brigde, Backwoods, Higher Ground...) and one surprise: David Bowie's Sound and Vision. They didn't play too well, they had some problems with Warped (the song they played worst), but they increased intensity. The lights were spectacular but discrete enough not to distract from the stage, and they jumped quite a lot (Kiedis was a little static), including Dave Navarro, who had been quiet as an statue in Madrid last year. He dared to play a few notes from a Jane's song... After a rest, they made another David Bowie's cover, Sufragette City, and the best version from Me & my friends you can imagine, and suddenly Flea got nude too, as well as one of the chorus girls; that end was incredible: Flea jumping nude up an down, that girl showing us her tits, a suicidal guy trespassed security line just to stage dive... The pity was that they played only an hour and a half... I think last year's concert was more intense (they returned three times to the stage to continue playing), perhaps that's why they have chosen Spain (that's what I've been told) to start the tour, just to check the new songs live... Well, hope to hear from you... //-------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- // Saluendo // Drexx // drexx01@ibm.net // Peace, Love & Empathy (he's now Andres Guevara )
